A while back, I set out to update my profile pic on Facebook with a new photo. I didn't know exactly what I wanted but I had an idea that I wanted something a little... edgy.
It took a bit of work but I finally managed to get a pic I was happy with. A few people have asked me how I went about taking this photo so I figure I'd share it with them.
Then I rememberd that I had a blog...

Day at the Brickworks
(This is a post I was working on way back in April of last year. I have no idea why I never bothered to post it. Here it is now for what it's worth)
So last week I had an opportunity to take my camera to work again. This time we were shooting at the Evergreen Brick Works. From 1889 to the 1980s the Don Valley Brick Works was one of Canada’s pre-eminent brickyards. At its peak more than 43 million bricks a year were manufactured for use in the construction of homes and buildings across Canada.

What's New On My End
Hey! I just remembered... I have a blog!!!
I know it's been a little while since I've updated my blog (Ok, about a year or so...) so I decided to bring you all (all 4 of you...) up to date on what's new on my end...

Around My City
Every once in a while, I bring my camera to work. Last week as we were driving around the city, I decided to snap a few pics while we were out and about.

I Have Seen the Light... (through a tinted piece of glass....)
OK, so I finally had a chance to try out my new HiTech Grad ND filters and my Cameron Fader ND today. The pics aren't exactly high art but they'll give you an idea of what exactly they're capable of.

Frankenflash....
I've been having so much fun with my new 90mm macro lens that I figured it was time to step it up a notch. What I needed was a dedicated macro flash.
Ummm... yea; that's not gonna happen.
So what's a guy to do? Well, how about make my own....
So one day last week I decided to check out Henry's to see what a macro flash was going for...

Week 9 for the Project 52
![]() |
| Toronto |
So I finally had some time off this week (Yay me!!!) and I decided it was about time I finally set out to shoot that Landscape picture I've been talking about for the last few weeks or so. Friday seemed like a good enough day so I packed up all my stuff, loaded it into my car and set out to see what I could find...

So this is what a Landscape does NOT look like....
So here we are, going into the 10th week of the year and I'm already starting my 10th job of the year. This is definitely putting a dent into my Project 52...

Let's try this again, shall we?
Week 4 of my Project 52!
OK, so I admit it; I got lazy. Between work and real life, things just didn't come together the way I figured they would. After billing almost 21 work days in January and being a general couch potatoe in February, the Project 52 kinda fell by the wayside... But fear not!!! I'm back and raring to go! It's still a Project 52; I just never said it would be 52 weeks in a row.... (OK, in hindsight maybe I did but it's my Blog so I can pretty much do what I want....)

Well so much for week 3...
I'd planned on posting another pic this past weekend but work got in the way.
Working on a commercial for McDonalds so a couple of production shots will have to do for now. I'll add more if time permits.

Our bodies are 90% water...
A while back I decided to do a little experiment with water drops and a flash. The idea is you want to freeze the drop just as it connects with the surface of the water. It worked and I managed to get a few good pics out of the process.
For week 2 of my Project 52, I decided to revisit the water drops....

And so it begins… Again….
Well I said I’d do it…
January begins and so does my Project 52! 52 weeks, 52

The Street That Halloween Forgot...

I absolutely love Halloween, have since I was a kid. It's hands down my favorite holiday of the year.
When I was young I use to look forward to it for months! I'd plan out my costume meticulously, right down to the last detail (well there was that one year when I went as a clown. At least I think it was a clown...)

Do You Hipstamatic? Why Yes, I Do!
Anyone here use Hipstamatic? I do.
Hipstamatic is an app for the iPhone that turns your fancy schmancy (yes, that's a technical term) smartphone camera into a hip 1980's plastic point and shoot camera. The square format prints, the funky colours and the "interchangeable" lenses, film and flash all add to this cute little app.

Possible Themes for Project 52
Well, I've been doing some thinking (can you smell the smoke?) I've come up with a few ideas I'd like to explore throughout my Project 52. I figure I'll come up with 26 theme weeks and 26 "dealers choice" weeks.
What I've come up with so far:

The Best Photo I've Ever Taken
Back in 2009, my wife was in Halifax for a business
conference. I happened to be off that week so she suggested that I fly out and
meet her once the conference was over. I’d never been to Halifax so I jumped at
the chance. It was November, a relatively mild one for the east coast. I
remember getting off the plane and having to take my jacket off because it was
so warm! I’d only had my camera for a few months so I was looking forward to
taking it out and getting some decent photos (I was looking forward to seeing
my wife too, but seeing as we’re talking photography, I can just assume you all
know that already). We had 3 days to wander around and act like a couple of
tourists.
Project 52
I have an idea.
It's not an original idea by any stretch of the imagination. Lately I've been cruising the web looking for ideas to inspire me with my photography. I'm an amateur at best but I want to improve. I've noticed one project trend that I personally think is kinda cool; Project 365. What's a Project 365 you ask? Well, I'm gonna tell you...

And so it begins…
I guess it was inevitable. I’m a techno geek so at some point in time, I was gonna start a blog. I guess today’s the day…
