Do You Hipstamatic? Why Yes, I Do!

Anyone here use Hipstamatic? I do.

Hipstamatic is an app for the iPhone that turns your fancy schmancy (yes, that's a technical term) smartphone camera into a hip 1980's plastic point and shoot camera. The square format prints, the funky colours and the "interchangeable" lenses, film and flash all add to this cute little app.

The whole idea is you can change the lenses, film and flash to come up with some unique combinations. Obviously, you don't really change these things; the software in the app applies filters to the pics to give you that retro feel you've all been missing (along with mullets, Knight Rider and Wham...)

Obviously this app works much better if you have the iPhone 4 or 4S but it still offers something to the group of us who've never upgraded beyond the 3GS.

The retro square prints are pretty good quality, even more so if you have the 4 or the 4S. The funny thing is, the original Hipstamatic 100 sold about 200 units when it was first introduced. The Hipstamatic app has sold about 1.4 million units.

Just goes to show you that you don't always appreciate the things from the 80's until you get older...

Of course every rule has an exception....
